We understand that sometimes, despite your best efforts, users may end up on the root domain of your link. They might type it into a browser instead of clicking or searching for it. That's why we've implemented features like the root domain redirect and the 404 page redirect to help mitigate these common user errors.

With intensely diverse activity as described, some visits inevitably result in error. However, the root domain redirect and the 404-page redirect are features provided to reduce the impact of user errors (see also the next help topic below on setting up a custom 404 page).

• Short URLs = custom domain + short hash (myshortdomain.com/obza4).
• If a visitor enters your custom domain (minus the short hash) into a browser, it will default to TINY/.
• The root page redirect option means you can reconfigure a separate "homepage" for the root of your custom domain (i.e., a basic domain with no short hash).
• To set up a custom homepage, log in to your account and go to:
• Domains > Domain Settings > Root domain redirect.
• Enter your custom "homepage" URL into the box: "Custom root domain redirect URL" (such as http://mysite.com/faq/landingpage.html ).
• NOTE: A custom root domain redirect URL can't be the same as your custom domain name.
• In other words, don't use your custom domain name for this setting, which will result in an endless loop error.
